Excluding any personal bias, what are the advantages/disadvantages between nails and staples for securing standard roofing materials. The people I have asked personally give staples a bad review. Is this accurate? Have staples simply been used poorly in the past and now have to live with a bad reputation? How much difference in the surface area of the fasteners comes in to play. Is it because the staple has a long thin contact area and the nail has a compact contact area?
